CREDIT BY FRAUD.
MAN PLEADS GUILTY. DRUNKEN SPREE RESULT. POUR MONTHS IN GAOL. [By Telegraph.—Press Association] WIIAKATANE, Aug. 3. Before Justices of the Peace at the Court yesterday, Raymond Leslie Borchma pleaded guilty to seven charges of obtaining credit by fraud and not guilty to a charge of frequenting tlio Strand for the purposes of betting.
The police stated that accused stayed at hotels in Whakatane, Matata, To Puke, and Tauranga and left without paying. Ho also drew £1 in advanco on wages, but failed to start work offered him. He was arrested at a dance. Counsel for accused said that there had been no intention to defraud. The whole matter was the outcome of a drunken spree.
The Bench fined accused £2O on the betting--charge, in default three months' imprisonment. On two charges of obtaining credit by fraud he was sentenced to four months' imprisonment on each count and was convicted and discharged on the remainder of the chargofl.
