TEMPORARY SUPPLY MEASURES
GOOD PROGRESS BY GANGS. - -(£■> . m The work id dr-'-rliiig .■ small stream this side of Maungakirikin, a few miles up liic Kauaeranga Valley, into the Thames borough water race to provide a temporary supply of water for the town, until such ■ ime as the ordinary supply is restored, was continued yesterday and again to-day, by two shifts of relief workers under the borough engineer, Mr. 11. R. Bach. In the meantime, Thames residents are still without any regular supply, having to rely upon carting their own small domestic requirements. At present there is a trickle ol water in the race, and it is hoped to have the temporary supply through to-night, and if this is accomplished pumping operations will be started to-morrow, according to a 3vice given a “Thames Star” representative this afternoon by borough officials. Every suitable man who is available has been employed on the restoration work in the Kauaeranga Valley, and the borough engineer states that he is pleased with the work accomplished by the gangs.
