New Tourist Launch.

MILFORD SOUND TRAFFIC. Built for the Government Tourist trade at Milford Sound, the Donald Sutherland, the most up-to-dato passenger launch yet built in tho Dominion has been launched at St. Mary’s Beach, Ponsonby, by tho builders, Messrs. Collings and Bell. The launch, which has been named after the explorer who discovered Milford Sound and the Sutherland Falls, is 45ft overall, has lift Bin beam. and 3ft Bin draft, and is licensed to carry 60 passengers. Sho is litted with a 57 b.p. Gardener Diesel engine and has a speed of ten knots. The vessel has seating accommodation for GO passengers and sleeping accommodation for ten. Sho has a complete radio installation for both transmitting and receiving on all wave lengths, and has also a complete fire extinguishing apparatus. The Donald Sutherland, which is to go to Milford under her own power, was delivered by the builders to the Public Works Department yesterday.
