Dr. J. B. Liggins left Thames yesterday to spend a holiday at Lake Rotoiti.

Miss K. Ganley, of Auckland, Avho has been spending the holidays with her parents, has returned to Auckland. Mr. W. A. Kelly, of Thames, is acting as relieving Clerk of Court at Te Aroha, in the absence of the Clerk, Mr. J. D. O'Brien. Seven Ministers of the Crown took flights at the Rongotai airport yesterday (says a Wellington Press Association message). Those who Avent aloft were the lions. H. T. Armstrong, D. G. Sullivan, F. Jones, H. G. R. Mason, P. C. Webb, F. Langstone and W. Lee Martin. Major Adams, who has been in charge of the Salvation Army activities in Thames for the past three years, has received notification of transfer to Port Chalmers, and will leave Thames next week to take up' his new duties. Captain J. L. Lea Andi'ew, of Paeroa, will succeed Major Adams in Thames.

Salvation Army Auckland nursing staff changes announced include the transference of Lieut. Mary Evans, who was originally at Taumarunui Public Hospital, as second to Matron Baird at the maternity hospital, Grey Lynn, in succession to Captain Myrtle Halpin, transferred to the Edward Murphy Maternity Hospital, Gisborne. Captain Mary Flanders, of Auckland, is to go to Christchurch, and Captain Williams to Wellington.

A Press Association message from Wellington states that an official announcement has been made the Ven. Herbert St. Barbc Holland, M.A., Archdeacon of Warwick, England, has accepted nomination as the Anglican Bishop of Wellington, to succeed the Rt. Rev. Dr. T. H. Sprott, whose resignation was announced in July last. A Press Association message says the Minister for Public Works, the Hon. R. Scmple, and the Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister for Mines, will leave Wellington this evening for a tour of the northern part of the South Island, inspecting mining areas and railway lines. They will return to Wellington on the 25th. inst.
