Economic Aim.

REMOVING FEAR OF WANT. HON. P. FRASER AT WAIHI. TRIBUTE TO THAMES MEMBER. (.Special to "Star.") WAIHI, Jan. S. In. the course of his reply to a deputation at Waihi, the Minister for Health and Education (the Hon. i'. Fraser) paid a high tribute to the services rendered by Air. J. Thorn, M.P. for Thames, and added that the results of the elections, which he described as phenomenal, would not pass quickly from the historical and political records of the country. The Government fully recognised its responsibilities and would go as far as was humanly possible to keep its promises to the people, but it could not be expected to work miracles. The policy of the Government during the next three years would bo in the direction of dealing with the economic position to remove the fear of want from the minds of many people. The interests of the mass of the people must come first.

Mr. Fraser congratulated Waihi on its general appearance, particularly- commending the fine avenue of trees leading, to the town, and the splendid work carried out on Martha Hill by the Beautifying Society.
