Obituary.

MR. H. H. MORE. WELL-KNOWN MAORI CHIEF. A native well-known throughout the Hauraki district, Mr. Hira Horj More, aged 58, died suddenly on Monday evening at his Kirikiri home, Mr. More had been to the Kopu stock sale, and returning home went to the cowshed to help with tho evening milking. He complained of feeling ill and went to the house, intending to go to bed. While sitting in the kitchen for a few minutes he suddenly fell from the chair and collapsed. Mr. More was the only son of the late Hori More, cousin of the late Wirope Hotereni Taipari, who was associated with the early history of the Thames district. He was a chief of the Ngatimaru tribe and tho Ngati Haua (Waharoa) tribe. His associations also extended to the To Uringahu, Ngati Whanaunga, Ngati Te Aute and Ngati Paoa sub-tribes o£ Hauraki.

For many years a resident of Turua, Mr. More was widely known and respected by his many friends, both European and Maori. His enthusiastic interest in the welfare of the district and its sporting activities was notable.

Mr. More leaves a widow and grown-up family of four sons and three daughters, Mrs. A. Heaghney, Kirikiri; Mrs. E. Ellis, Thames; Miss Sarah More, Matata; George More, Pntaruru; Oscar More, Thames; Stanley and Darcy More, Kirikiri. There are 17 grandchildren.
