Fleetwind First.

PAEROA RACE APPEAL.

THE PLACINGS REVERSED,

JOHNNIE WALLS' INTERFERENCE.

(Spulal to Star)

AUCKLAND, April 3

The Auckland District Committee decided last night to reverse the placings in the Karangahake Handicap, run on the first day of the Ohinemuri Jockey Club's recent anaual meeting at Paeroa, placing FleetAvind first and Johnnie Walls second.

The latter beat Fleetwind by a head and after the race the Judicial Committee inquired into interference by Johnnie Walls with Fleetxvind in the concluding stage of the race. Though interference was admitted, the Judicial Committee considered it insufficient to justify altering tho .judge's decision, and the appeal was from that decision.

The finding was as follows: That after carefully considering the evidence submitted by the Ohinemuri Jockey Club and hearing further evidence from the interested parties, the District Committee decides that the appeal be upheld and the deposit of £5 returned, and that the plaeings of the horses be reversed, first prizemoney, £65, being awarded to Fleetwind, and second prize-money, £25, to Johnnie Walls.
