ANOTHER OPINION.
(To the Editor). Sir, —The question asked in your leader —Is there any justification for the continued existence of a Harbour Board under circumstances now prevailing in Thames? —is too easy. Let me ask a harder one: If tho Harbour Board could remain in recess for five months, and then como back to make the astounding secretarial appointment recently announced (without a blush), why could not the Board have appointed the Borough Commissioner to tako over its whole outfit and decently retire into oblivion again for another five months, or five years for preference ?
Truly, a change has come o'er the spirit of our dreams. A short time ago we were encouraged to believo the Borough Commissioner was the big, bad wolf come amongst us. Today the one hope of our salvation most certainly lies in retaining and expanding the services of this remarkable officer who has truly proved his worth. Is it necessary to add —and pay for them. —I am, etc.,
"DREAMER."
