Medical Students.

THE OTAGO SCHOOL NUMBER RESTRICTED. SECOND YEAR CLASSES. (By Telegraph—tress Association). DUNEDIN, Jan. 31. It was reported to a special meeting of the University Council that more than 20 students who began their course last year will not be readmitted to the medical school. The report stated that 83 applications had been received for admission to second-year classes, of whom 53 had passed the medical intermediate examination or its equivalent, and would be accepted. Four had probably complied With the requirements of the examination, and on verification would also be accepted. One applicant was not qualified.

Twenty-fivo students were sitting for a special examination, and of these the three who obtained tho most satisfactory results would be accepted. ______
