METALLING PROGRESSING

MR. MARSHALL’S ACTIVITY

Chosen to represent the Paeroa riding on. the Ohinemuri County Council at the recent election, and appointed chairman at the statutory meeting on Wednesday of last week, Mr W. Marshall is losing no time in getting into touch with County matters. On Thursday, in company with the engineer (Mr L. E. Sha,v), Mr Marshall paid a visit of inspection to the Waihi-Wliangamata Road, which is being metalled by relief workers. It was found that the carting of metal from the Waihi mine tip-head was cutting up the road within the Waihi Borough boundary, and onwards towards Mr Otto Bjerring’s farm, to such an extent that it was decided to stop taking metal from the tip and use only the metal being broken on the roadside, working inwards towards Waihi. This, Mr

Marshall informed a press representative, will somewhat delay the completion of the metalling, but steps will be taken to increase" the number of workers in order to get the job finished as early as possible.
