BAPTIST ANNIVERSARY.

SUNDAY SCHOOL FESTIVAL,

GOOD MUSIC AND SINGING.

Glorious weather favoured the, occasion of the holding of the 62nd. anniversary of the opening of the Baptist Sunday School in Thames. The first meeting was held at the Willoughby Street hall in September. 1869, and few amongst those present on Sunday, whlUftrmempries recall the early days, especially the yearly music festival, can 'remember an o'ccasion so truly successful in every way. The result betokens the very closest attention and the greatest care in the training of the children, and reflects great credit on Mr. W. (P. Ensor, who, is "responsible for such work. This is the eleventh successive occasion on which he has been the conductor. The 'Kev. Liversedge, in the morning, held the close attention of the children with his talk on "The Road with the Red Flag," and his remarks on "Religious Education" were most apt. Miss Ritchie sang a delightful solo, "Benediction." At the afternoon session the children in unison recited the portion of scripture for the day. Misses B. Hobbis and B. Wood sang, the duet, "Bird's Eye"; the Misses E. Senior, A. Bryan, F. Pernio and J. Renshaw, the quartette, "Pleasing Jesus," and a trio was also given :by the Misses Thora Grant, Joy Davis and Jean Renshaw.

The evening service, at which were members of the local Fire Brigade, was very well attended. Mrs Fear was the soloist, and the choir gave the anthem, "Thou Crownest the Year." The Rev. Fear's addresses to the children in the afternoon and to tho parents in the evening, were most interesting, instructive and impressive. A point made by him showed how children were profoundly influenced by home conditions that the example set must be of the very highest standard. The social evening and tho concert will be held at the Willoughby Street Hall on Tuesday evening.
