"I recognise that the severest part of the punishment will be that you will be removed from, the roll of solicitors, but is not sufficient, and it is mv dutv to impose a term of imprisonment,'' said Mr. Justice Peed when Robert George Gardiner Bain,' aged 26, a barrister and solicitor appeared before him at the Supreme Court tfiis morning for sentence for theft by fraud. His Honour remarked that the punishment must be such as would act as a deterrent to others interfering with their clients' money and ordered that Jiain be detained for reformative purposes for 12 months. Bain pleaded guilty in the lower Court to 20 charges of fraudulently omitting to account for moneys received, thereby committing The total amount of the defalcations is approximately £6OO.
