BEEF IN KEEN DEMAND. (Special to “Star.”) AUCKLAND, Aug. 20. To-day at Westfield beef was penned in average numbers. Tjiere was a keen demand for choice and prime quality, with values improving on last week’s sale. Extra choice ox sold to 41/- per 100 lb; choice and prime, 37/6 to 40/-; secondary and plain, 34/- to 36/6; prime young cow and heifer beef, 35/- to 38/-; secondary, 30/to 34/-; extra heavy ’ prime steers ranged id price from £ls to £lB/15/-; heavy, £ls to £l6/15/-; lighter, £l3/15/- to £l4/15/6; light, £l2 to £l3/10/-; small and unfinished, £9 to £ll/15/-; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £ll/10/- to £l3/7/6; heavy, £9/10/to £ll/7/6; lighter, £8 to £9/7/6; light, £6/10/- to £7/15/-; other cows, £4/10/- to £6/5/-.
