RAIN STOPS TEST.
AUSTRALIA BATTING WELL. Bradman another Century. ENGLAND’S SCORE EQUALLED. FOR LOSS OF THREE WICKETS. " (A. and N.Z. Cable.) LONDON, Aug. 19. The final test was continued today, Australia being at the wickets. Bradman and Kippax batted carefully until Kippax fell to a leg trap set by Peebles. Jackson replaced him and opened scratchily. At stumps, Australia had equalled Britain’s full score (405) for the loss of three wickets.
Heavy rain during the luncheon adjournment prevented the resumption till three o’clock. The players were driven from the field at 3.50 p.m. by an approaching thunderstorm. After several inspections thecovers were taken off the wicket at 6.20. Amid farcical proceedings Bradman and Jackson walked slowly to the creases and had scored one run when stumps were drawn at the usual time, 6.30 p.m. .Details: — ENGLAND.
