had been held after the New Year holidays, and as a result the entries were small, and notwithstanding the favourable weather and suitable seating accommodation, ,tke at-
tendance of the public „ ha,d been smaller than at any.' New Zealand championships during the past 11 years. The total entries for all events had been 197 compared with 245 for the previous year."
