PERSONAL.
A resolution of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. P. (Sandy) McElwain, was carried at last evening's meeting of the Thames Rugby Union, the chairman, in moving, dwelling upon the lengthy and honourable career of Mr. McElwain, both, as a player and as an administrator in Rugby circles. He also paid tribute to the able way in which Mr. McElwain had represented Thames upon the Auckland Rugby Union. A wreath was ordered to be sent. A. motion of sympathy with the relatives of the late Mr. Moses Ensor was passed by the Thames Rugby Union last evening. One of has sons, Mr. J. H. Ensor, had formerly been a mem her of the Union. Mj\ George Citllen, of Auckland, was visiting Thames to-day. The Hon. G W. Forbes announced to-dav that Mr. R. A. Anderson, CMG. of lnvercargill, had been appointed' a director of the Bank Qi Not- Zealand in succession to the late Mr William Reece. of Christchurch Mr. Anderson is the chairman of the J. G. Ward Company. Liver caraill and a member of the Local Bodies Loans Board. The term of h£ appointment is until March next y£r wires the "Star's" Wellington correspondent.
