"VALLEY OF THE MARNE." •We are always pleased to record the success of Thames students in whatever sphere of studies they puisue. and we now have pleasure in publishing the news of the success gained by Mrs. Leslie Greener, who paints under her maiden name of "Rhona Haszard," who has achieved notable success with her paintings. :The following letter received from the secretary of H.R.H the, Prince of Wales, shows what a prominent position Mrs. Greener has attained in the world of art when she was invited by the Prince of Wales to exhibit her work among the leading painters of the day:— St. James Palace, London, S.W., • May 2, 1930;

Mrs. Leslie Greener, "Miss Rhona Haszard," ) Dear Madam, — "It has been arranged on behalf of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, to hold an exhibition of the work of contemporary artists, the proceeds from the sale of which will be placed in a special fund which H.R.H. has himself opened in aid of the British Legion, and this exhibition will be held in the Grafton Galleries in June nexti • '■'ln order interest m the exhibition .-and-also to augment his fund, H.R.H. is anxious to know whether you would be so generous as 'to to this exhibition a specimen of your work, so that the collection may be really representative of the best in modern art. "As quality alone is aimed at only a ; few of our prominent artists are being , jnvited to contribute, so that if you are.able to accede to this.request,, your work will be in the best of (iompany, since H.R.H. has already received works from Mr. Muirhead Bone, Sir D. Mrs. Greener was bom in 1900, and' left, the Thames in 1906 for Auckland, and later, when her father .was transferred to Canterbury as Commissioner of Crown she 'attended the Art School, in Christchurch. In 1925 she went to Pans and studied at the Academic Julian under M Jean Paul Lorens. bne travelled extensively in France especially through the old battlefields,, and last vear the Auckland City Council ourchased her "Valley of the Marne" lor permanent exhibition, in the Art Gallery. In 1927 she received a'bronze medal for a picture she lent to the British Exhibition at Wemblelv! ' Hfen fiathen and mother, Mr. arid Mrs, H. D. M. Haszard, resided at Thames for some years. She is at present residing m Alex andria, Egypt, where her husband is on the staff of the Victoria College.
