MOANATAIARI MINE.
ENCOURAGING REPORT.
NO OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION.
Rumours were current in Auckland that a favourable report had been received from the Moahataiari mine. For some weeks past renewed interest has been taken in the mine by reason of the belief that a new reef on which the men had been working would junction with the reef at the bottom of the winze where gold was met with. some.time ago, when work had to be suspended through water coming in. In consequence of promising indications shares have been in regular request during the last ten days at advanced prices.* It is now alleged thai the men worked; continuously all day Wednesday and Wednesday night,"and that shortly after midnight the looked-for junction was struck. Confirmation of this report was lacking at the local office of the company, where it was stated no report of the kind had been received. . . . ■
