TALKIES AT THAMES.
"GIVE AND TAKE."
Clean comedy is the keynote of the Universal special, t'Give and Take," at the King's Theatre to-night. Nou only is comedy the keynote, but the picture has a cast which is a guarantee of the last word in characterisation. From the first reel to the last, George Sidney, who co-stars with Jean Hersholt in this production, has paid \strict attention to the technique of producing spontaneous laughter. He does not depend upon either gags or slapstick for his efforts, but seems to get them by some innate power within himself which may be best described by saving—he know s people. There is much'which might be written on the subject of young Bauer's "Give and. Take" plan'of business but this story has to do with the skill with which George Sidney maintains the comedy throughout all situations. Jean Hersholt, as always, gives a perfect performance as the father of Jack and -as owner of the factory,
