EXTENSION OF POWER.
SECOND LOAN POLL. SUCCESS AT ASHBURTON. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) ASHBURTON, May 9. The ratepayers yesterday carried the Power Board’s loan of £85,000 for the construction and completion of the electrical works, advances to consumers, and trading in appliances. The voting was: For, 1388; against, 605; or 193 over the three-fifths majority. Last year’s polling on a. similar loan resulted: For, 884; against, 697; or 65 below the required majority.
