EMBARGO ON POTATOES.

NO CHANCE OF LIFTING IT.

ADVICES FROM AUSTRALIA

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) W AIM ATE, May 9. There seems little probability that the Australian Government will lift the embargo on New Zealand potatoes, according to advice received by Mr. J. Bitchener, M.P., from the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. G. W. Forbes,

It is understood the flood damage to the Tasmanian crops was not serious and as repeated unsuccessful attempts have been made by New Zealand to have the embargo lifted, Mr. Forbes there is little prospect of such unless pressure is brought to bear on the Commonwealth Government by the buiness people and consumers in Australia.
