TURUA BAND BALL. (From Our Own Correspondent). One of the most original successful and well-attended halls to be held in the Turua Public Hall for some considerable time was that held on Thursday night, March 21. in aid of the funds of the Turua Town Baud. There was a very large crowd «i' dancers* from all over the Hauraki Plains, Thames and Paeroa, who danced to the music of the Dixie Boys Orchestra, the ball itself being a very fitting opening of the dancing season on the Hauraki Plains. The Turua Town Band played several selections outside the hall before the commencement of the dance, as well as music for the first dance, being recalled again and again. The hall was gaily decorated with coloured .steamers and the stage with a panel bearing the words "Turua Band" in motifs of red and bine. A delightful sit-down supper wa.u provided at the back of the stage. The tables were a picture in their feather? decorations of Michaelmas daisies and cosmos, the arrangement of which great credit must l>e given to Mrs. J. H. Johnson and Mrs. H. Hill. The ladies in charge of the supper arrangements were Mesdames W. Taylor, J. Hamilton, J. Thrupp, S. Williams, Kendall. T. White, Lord, Henwood, and Misses Scott, Hamilton and Stevens.
