BLAZE AT HIKUTAIA

EIGHT-ROOMED HOUSE BURNT

An eight-roomed house at Hikutaia, owned by Mr. J. Handler, of Paerou, was totally destroyed by fire at 1.30 p.m. yesterday.

The house, which is situated behind the Hikutaia dairy factory, was occur pied by a son of the owner, who was working on a distant part of the -farm when the outbreak occurred:

The chimney was the only part of the building left standing after ,a fierce conflagration, lasting less than ,90 m •,- utes. Nothing was saved of the co.i tents. . .
