MEN BEING DISMISED

Mr. W. L. Martin (Raglan) asked the Minister of Railways in the House, of Representatives if lie were aware that men were being discharged from the house factory at Frankton, and that rumours were rife : of extensive reductions in the staff. Also, • if, in vie>y ; of the unemployment in the district, the Minister would have enquiry made with a view to keeping the men referred to employed. The Minister of Railways (Rt. Hon. J G. Coates) replied that lie wished the hon. member had given him notice of the question, as he might then have "been able to give him some information on the subject. He had better place the question on the Order Paper. Mr." Martin said lie had only just received the communication, otherwise he would have notified the Minister.
