SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
LAST NIGHT'S MEETING
CLOCK TIME TO BE OBSERVED
The Thames Schools Committee met last evening, the chairman, Mr. J. Hodge, presiding.
The Auckland Education Board wrote stating that head teachers had been directed to notify school committees of visits of inspectors, in order to permit the discussion of matters of mutual interest. The board also advised that it had decided to leave the question of fixing school hours to be observed during the period for which the Summer Time Act would operate, to thg discretion of school committees. It was resolved to fix the hours in order to comply with the provisions of the new Act. A suggestion to rent rooms in Pollen Street for use as a dental clinic was dropped in favour of a resolution deputing Messrs. Hodge, Muir and Shepherd to endeavour to secure the use of a disused building owned by the Thames Hospital Board. Curiosity was expressed as to the reason for the action of the Education Board in removing an assistant teacher from the South School within three weeks of her appointment. It was decided to ask the board for an explanation.
