THE WEATHER.
RAIN ON WEST COAST. (Press Association.) HOKITIKA, April 23. Heavy rain yesterday afternoon and last night brought down a very large flood in the river. Four and a half inches of rain fell in 24 hours. The Westland races have been postponed till Thursday. The weather is now clearing.
RAIN IN KING COUNTRY, (Press Association.)
TAUMARUNUI, April 23
Heavy rain commenced to fall here in the early hours of the morning, and as this will affect the roads linking the country, Taumarunui will be more isolated by the strike than would have been the ease had tine weather prevailed. It is possible that cars will get through to Ohakune, and a 'bus left for the south at six o’clock this morning, but it is not likely unless the weather clears that the service will lie maintained with Te Ivuiti. The town is not badly off for supplies, as there are enough for three weeks.
