SCHOOL PICNIC.
KOPU AND MATATOKI. The annual picnic of the children attending the Matatoki and Kopu schools was held in Mr. W. J. Hall’s paddock at Matatoki yesterday. Over 150 children and 65 adults attended. The weather conditions were ideal for such an occasion, and the numerous trees on the ground provided ample shade from the hot rays of the summer sun. The duty of arranging for the picnic was in the hands of the Kopu and Matatoki School Committee (Messrs W. J. Hall, E. Tizard, E. A. Brown, E. Jamieson and R. H. Muir), and of Mr. J. W. Renniek, the headmaster. Nearly 50 races were run during the afternoon. Messrs. E. Brown E. Jamieson, and J. M. Boyd acted as judges. The ladies of Kopu and Matatoki attended in full force, and to them was due the credit for the exceptionally fine luncheon and afternoon tea provided. Special mention must also be made of the splendid work done by Misses I. Johnson and G. Renniek, assistant teachers, and by Mrs. J. W. Renniek. THE RESULTS.
