He said that it gave power to the Irish to control their own Government and (military, and increased the people's power to an extent greater -than ever before. The delegates at London found, he said, when >Mr Lloyd George threatened immediate war if they failed to sign the treaty .-and recommend it to the Dail Eireann that "it was not play acting." If they had not signed it fresh hordes of savages would have Ibeen let loose in Ireland. They had lost the republic in order to the people of Ireland.
