VENIZELOS EXCOMMUNICATED
FARCIAL PROCEEDINGS. (Australian and N.Z Cable Association) LONDON, Jan. 7. Mr Jeffries, press correspondent, writing from Athens, states that Mons. Venizelos on Christmas Day was publicly excommunicated jby the -authorities of the Greek church. The Government opposed the sentence, but the reservists forced the Metropolitan of Athens to perform the ceremony. '"■'.' A gory bull's head'was. placed.in a. square made of stones, and the metropolitan, with averted head;' pronounced "Anathema." . The reservists marched past shouting "Anathema." Fifty.; '"thousand men, women, and children 'cast stones cursing Venizelos as a traitor.
