AUCKLAND, June 21
'An interestingi statement-was made at,the.meeting of-the-Thames Drainage Board this afternoon ,in respect to the Deep Leads (otherwise known as the Shortland Flat&anui^J^the Thames. It was in connection with the payment of drainage dues on that ground. The Chairman (Mr ; fltodson) explained that judgment' ■' had been got for amount and. the la,nd was to have been sold. He however received the following telegram'from Mr Lowe: "Re Drainage Board versus Boles, understand-strong; probability of floating SJiortland Mats at Home immediately. Think it advisable trt stay action "for the present. Crawford calling to explain." ' Another telegram wa,s forwarded by Mr T. W. Rbocles, M.P.: "'Sugc'eist advisability in interests of ltiining that the sale of the Deep Leads be postponed for three mouths.
