■ A- meeting of the members of the Thanies Drainage Bo*ird was held at )2 p.m. yesterday in Mr W. Nicholl's office, when there were present Messrs H/ Hudson (chairmanV H. Gilfillan, ■Graves Aicken, H. Lowe, E. A. Brown, H. H. Adams, and W. Baker;

THE RiECENT STOPPAGE

The pumping engineer reported that when the pump broke there was nothing 1 at the Thames capable of lifting the rods and buckets. He went tiiy motor car to Waihi, where he was kindly lent by the superintendent of that company, two 50 ton jack's which did the work required. The pumps were stopped altogether for 74----hours. When pumping was resumed the water was lifted in 60 V~—-' work. NEW ROPE REQUIRED. The Chairman said they would require a now rope for the winding plant some time in the near future and that would cost £50 or £60. Mr Aclanis considered .there was no urgency in the matter and on his motion it was decided not to,take any action regarding 1 the winding ropes at the present time. ■ ACCOUNTS. - ■ The Chairman- said the liabilities were .:13ft-lid and the balance in the bank: to 'meet; it was £298 but there was £1364 contributions due. . *...., .

It was agreed to urge upon companies to pay up more promptly. The amount due from the Deep Leads was stated to, te' £-370."
