'Rlsplying to a deputation from tlw. Arbitration and Peace Association protesting against compulsory clauses in the 'Djefence Act, the Hon. Mi* Myers stated that while holding in respect the conscientious opinion, of those opposed to military training it was his duty to see the law carrie.l out, although Government regretted being 1 compelled to allow the civil law to take its course. When registers failed to register (which involved penalties) Government had no> option but to see the law vindicated and those who failed to register were . thereby disfranchised and foreited the right to Government employment.
