This company, prior to the present Aot becoming law, carried on (the business of auctioneers and slaugthtermeni. A few hundred yards from the present abattoirs itfiere existed another slaughterhouse, and while this was in exist- ' ence the company referred to slaugh.----i tered and delivered th© meat for I about one-half the cost of its present i charges. We have done our utmost, both with, the local authority and th,« Minister for Agriculture, to obtain redress, but without success; in fact, a deaf ear 'has been turned to us and an evasive reply given, so* that the only course open; is to petition) Parliitmeat. Our experience of the Slaughtering and Inspection Bill is that it means purely and simply 'monopoly,* and in its present form it imposes a very heavy handioap on the retal butcher. ' ...
