Mr Reid and others argued that it was never intended the Minister should use arbitrary powers given him in this manner. Mir Lyne had practically found the Massey-Harris Company guilty without giving them a chance of replying, and action was taken in such manner as to prevent any redress. Mr Lyne replied that if they wished to bring an action against the Government they would be given, every facility to do bo. During the debate on the Trades Marks Bill Mr Knox declared he had heard an ugly rumour that the Labor party had bargained with Mr Deakin to support the Government if he would concede the Trades Union Label Provided.
