Hospital Trustees.
The usual meeting of the above was held last night. There were present: Messrs T. A. Dunlop, Foy, Mensdes, Moore, Deeble, and Trembath. The i Rev. Monsigneur O'Reilly being absent it was decided to appoint Mr T. A. Dunlop as Chairman for the ensuing J term. REPORTS, ETC. The House Committee reported that the hospital had been visited on several occasions during the month, and the conduct of the institution found satisfactory. The Building Committee reported that the various works in connection with the new building were progressing favourably. The improved ventilation works were at present being carried out, and the erection of fences on the Mackay street frontage, etc., had been completed. Before nextj meeting all contemplated improvements will be completed, and the new building made up to date in every respect.
The Treasurer reported that the receipts had been: Credit balance, £719 us !)d; art union, £100; patients' fees, etc., £-16 13s ; votal, £865 18s 9d. The expenditure had been £107 12s lOd, leaving a credit balance of £458 5s lid. . The architect reported that the works executed by Messrs Trepauu Adams, and Booth had been performed satisfactorily. The removal of 2 cottages in Mackay street had also been carried out in accordance with terms drawn up. AIL the reports were adopted nein dis. GENERAL. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr James Darrow for the gift of a kauri log. Messrs Menzies, Deeble, and Foy [ were appointed the House ConmritI tee for the ensuing month. Mr Moore intimated that he.would* have pleasure in donating his travel-1 ling expenses (.£5) to the hospital, I -and expressed a wish that a hall I clock should be secured. A hearty vote of thanks ' was passed to Mr Moore for his donation. A vote of thanks was passed to the Art Union Committee, Messrs Menzies, Foy, and Cantlcy (secretary). j for their efforts on behalf of the hospital. A motion was carried increasing i the secretary's salary to £75 per year. Several members of the Board spoke of the onerous duties and in terms of high praise of the work performed by Mr Cantley, after which the latter returned thanks, stating that as the hospital progressed his labours had increased proportionately.
