The second day's racing of the V.R.C. was held to day. The weather' cleared off at noon, but the recent rain had made the going heavy. Advance i after lying handy in the Australian Cup, and running well for the major portion of the journey, could not foot ifc with the others, and the New Zealander was unplaced, the winner turning up in Dreamland In the Bourke Handicap, in which Boreas, another New Zealander, was engaged the Maoriland horse played up at the start, and then failed to run into a place, finishing fourth. The results of the principal events are appended :— Hurdles. — Le Soleil 1, Rawdon 2 Barossa 3. Betting—Evens Tagus, 6 to 1 Le Soleil. Won easily. Time, 6min B{sec Ascotvale Stakes.—Hautvilliers 1. Elderslie 2, Graspan 3. Betting—2 to 1 on Hautvilliers' Won easily Time, linin 16|sec AUSTRALIAN CUP. Dreamland (W. Minter) 1 , Flintlock (Kirkpatrickj 2 San Fran (A, Richardson) 31 British Admiral was scratched. Betting: 3to 1 Advance, 4. to 1 Finland, 5 to 1 San Fran, 7 to 1 Dreamland. Adva,nce occupied a handy j place throughout the earlier stages of ' the journey. At the back stretch San i Fran was just in front of Advance Then came Finland, Flintlock, Malster, I and Dreamland in the order named ! Dreamland ran into third place at the i abattoirs, and coming into the straight San Fran was just in front of Advance with Dreamland and Flintlock next, At the distance Dreamland tackled Advance who now headed San Fran, but at the half^distance Advance was beaten and Dreamland was in charge of affairs. Staving off a determined challenge by Flintlock, Dreamland went on under punishment and won by three quarters of a length, three lengths between second and third. Then came The Bride, Malster, Ad« vance, and Seaport, Time, 3min 59|sec,

March Steeplechase.—Floater 1, Hayseed 2, Sunlight 3. Betting —5 to 2 Hostile, 4to 1 Floater. Time, smiu 21sec.

Bourke Handicap —Safety 1, Ferryman 2, Australian 3. Betting—6 to 4 Safety,, 7to 1 Boreas. The latter played up at the post and delayed the start. Won by a neck Boreas was fourth. Time, lmin 29-|sec. "

Junior Handicap.—Black Watch I, Gunlock 2, Dodona 3. Betting—s to 2 Dodona Won by half^a-length.
