BRISBANE, November 23

In the Assembly the Government had another narrow escape, an amendment in the Railway Standing Committee Bill being defeated by a small majority. Mr Dawson, the Labour .Leader, moved the next order day. The Premier accepted it as a want-of confidence motion, but this was defeated by 33 to 32. The Premier said in the present temper of the House it was advisable to withdraw the Bill till later in the session. ADELAIDE, November 23. A political crisis is threatened over the Household Suffrage Bill. The Opposition and Labour Party joined forces owing to the Premier's threat that if the Council rejects the Bill he will ask for a dissolution. Both Houses expected the want-of-confi-dence would be noticed in the Assembly to-day. The Opposition claim to have a majority of one.
