Auckland, Jane 26. Tc -night's Star states that Me«sra C. A. Harris and T. A. Dunlop are at Coromandel for the purpose of selecting a site for a shaft for the Hauraki Freeholds Company. Mr D. B. McDonald left this event ing by the Westralia for New South Wales for the purpose of inspecting dredging areas on the Clarence ana Snowball rivers on behalf of' an Auckland syndicate. Catherine Sidling was committed for trial to-day on a charge of throw* ing vitriol at Ellen Hannah, causing grievous bodily harm.
Mr and Mrs Moss Davis and their two daughters were passengers for Sydney by the Westralia. A young man named Poole fell into a tank of boiling water at the Chelsea ". sugar works and sustained terrible . injuries to his head, face, and one arm. He lies in a precarious condition at the hospital.
