Gualliiet desires Dreyfus' acquittal and the amnesty of the general BtaiJ. Ihe anti-Dreyfusites are furious with the new Cabinet. The bulk of the Social and Kadieui members of the Chamber support tut Cabinet. M. G&llifet's appointment as, Minister for War is intended to break the power of the generals and cause a reaction.
LONDON, June 24. « The Paris correspondent of the Times states that the new French Ministers, who are men of talent, will sink any personal rivalries' with a view to stopping the ani.rchy preva-. lent ajinongst their ranks. ' j M. Rosseau has informed the Pre- j fects' Department that a Ministry has been forftned on the basis of .the defence of the Republic, and that it is the duty of Prefects to - maintain respect for national institutions.To ensure order they must act, if necessary, spontaneously. Mr. Gallifet has infoijmed the Military Governor of Paris and the coon,inanders of the various ai(aiy corps that he assumes responsibility for the army, and he relies upon them, as they may upon him, to efficiently discharge his duties to the Governpnent and the Republic.
