The Late President Faure.

Paris, February 18. President Faure's body has been embalmed and is lying in state, clothed in evening suit, white waistcoat, with the official ensignia on the breast. The public will be allowed to view the body till Tuesday. The Kaiser'a was the first of many messages of sympathy to arrive. Among others from whom messages were received were :—Emperors of Russia and Austria, King Humbert, ; and President McKinley. ! In the Reichstag Prince Hobcnlohe, , Imperial Chancellor, himself, instead of the President, as a mark of special respect, announced thejnews of Faure's death. Juat prior to President Faure's death, his wife despatched a messenger for a priest. Abbe Renault, the prison chaplain, was found in the street and conducted to the death chamber. The Kaiser has intimated that he will send a special representative to the funeral.
London, February 18
The Queen, Prince of Wales, and many others sent messages of condolence or called upon the French Ecubassay in London.
The Queen also despatched a special message to Yadame Faure. In the House of Lords, Lord Salisbury, iv a sympathetic speech, said Faure had been a most valuable and estimable President, and hoped his successor would show the same high impartiality and friendliness towards Britain. He added that the intensity of the lost) was increased owing to France's present difficulties in regard to internal and foreign affairs.
In the House of Commons, speeches referring to the death were made by Messrs lialfour and Oampbell Banner man, loaders of the two parties. The flags in London and all the other chief cities in Great Britain, and also throughout Italy, are flying halfmast.
In the House of Lords, Lord Kirn* berley also made sympathetic reference to the event.
The Prince of Wales was present during the sitting in the House oi Commons.
Home, February 18. The Italian Parliament adjourned for two days as a mark of respect. St Pbtjbrbburg, February 19. The Kuesiun newspapers refer in friendly terms to the French Alliance. The Czar's wreath was inacribed : " Our ally and friend.'' Berlin, February 19.
The Kaiser spent forty minutes al the French Embassy on a visit of con' dolence.
