The South Sea Excursion.

Wellington, July 5

The Waikare, from Sydney, arrived early this morning. She brought a large number of passengers, including 86 excursionists for the South Sea Islands. She embarks her New Zealand complement of passengers and sails for the Islands this afternoon.

Later,

The Waikare left on her South Sea trip at 4,15, There was a large attendance on the wharf, and the vessel w»s cheered as she moved off, filing rockets, and was followed by the strains ef Highland pipes. She takes 156 excursionists in all. The steamer will visit in succession Raratonga, Papeete, (where a great French festival will be held), Raiatea, Rorgo Pongo, Apia, Vavau, and Tongatabu, and the trip will extend to about six weeks, Mr James Mills, managing director of the Company, is a passenger.
