The Borough Council.

(To the Editot)

. Sir, —I am surprised at the impertinence of Mr Albert Bruce, and the way the Borough Council take it. L was not long ago that Mr Deeble had a grievance with the Council about some water, and attended the Council meeting to lay his case before the Council. And what did we see ? This busy body bad more to say than all the other Councillors, and if I had been in Mr Deeble'a place at the time I would hare taken him by the collar and put him out, while I was doing business with the Council and the men who are elected for that purpose. In many other instances I have noticed his for". wardness in matters in which he as a

clerk has no right to take part in the discussions; but the best that I have noticed was at the last meeting, when j the Karaka Creek question was on Then the Town Olerk was very much afraid that all the money would be eaten up, and then have to stop. Mr Editor, I cannot understand why the Council keep Mr Bruce. They have only 4or 5 mea-at work, and have a Foreman to look a*t«r them and reporti to the Council. Now, Sir, what om earth there is for two men to do in t|flu office is a mystery I cannot fa^hJlfl When Mr Carpenter was sick anM absent from the office, Mr Kernick dM] all the work, and, to use the Counfjjnl own words "he did it well," and*«lj was more work to do then thaftMHl is now. So how is it that ttaftflH does not do its duty and disoMgHlKl officer that it has been provipP&p] well done away with, .and,-^PJ^Mlfei ing to eat up the moO*7MfWH9 clearing creeks, etc. Thankinfl|KMl anticipation.—l am, etc., fpfjjpl
