Australian Federation.
Press Association—Electric Telegraph-Copyright,
Sydney, March 25
Tbe Daily Telegraph opposes the federal constitution, and says that the failure of the Convention to modify equal representation in the Senate by democratic safeguards makes the price of federation the sacrifice of representative government. The constitution practically consigns freetrade to irrevocable perdition. Melbourne, March 25.
The Age sees little good in the federal constitution, and bases its opposition chiefly on the non-federation of the railways. The Argus fears that a campaign ag linst the Australian cause will be conducted on side issues.
Mr Isaacs makes it appear that the railways are to be put m the front of his Machiavellian campaign.
