EAPAN6A (Cobomandkl.) Messrs Home and Johnson, tributers in this mine, have a quantity of picked stone and rich dirt yet to crush, which will increase the return of their first haul. Gold is still showing in tht face of the reef, which averages 2ft in thickness. Since the first haul they have obtained a quantity of specimen* and picked stone each day, and the result of the crushing of these parcel* is expected to be almost as high as the recent return. WAITEKAURI. Matters in connection with this mine still continuo to look very encouraging. At the kiln level the drive is now in 700 feet from the crosscut, and the stopes are providing a large supply of payable ore for the battery, the mv provement in the character of the lode being atill in evidence. At No 2 level of No I shaft the drive north oa the course of the" reef is in 150 feet, and two rises are now in progress up to the kiln level. In this level the reef where >. the last crosscut was put in proved to be 22 feet wide, and of this over eight feet was ore of high grade quality, I The drive south has been advanced a | distance of 100 feet, and a rise is also being put up here. The continuation of the shaft is also being pushed ahead, and after another 8 feet of sinking the chamber will be cut out and No 3 level crosscut commenced for the purpose of intersecting the lode' at the 100 feet below No 2 level. When this is effected further satisfactory developments may be confidently expected judging by the upper workings, It is also contemplated shortly com* mencing the erection of an additional 40 stampers, so that the present monthly yield will then be nearly doubled.
