Permanganate Process.

(To the Editor.;

Sir, —I have two small corrections to make to your note in last night's issue. In the first place lam not Dr. Mack's assistant, and in the second

place I did not give the information

attributed to me.—Yours truly, Thos, 0. Dennison. [Mr Donnison's memory has evidently played him false in connection with this mattter. As to whether or not he is Professor Black's assistant is somewhat immaterial. He oertainly gave our representative to understand that he was, and to assist his memory we might remind him that he at the same time said : "You must not put Mr Paterson as assistant, because he has only come down from Auckland with Mr Black." Mr Dennison also added that he had come from Dunodin with Mr Black;had been with him all the time; and was his assistant. Further than this, Professor Black iniortned our reporter that any information he required he could obtain from Mr Dennison,. as he knew as much about the process as the Professor himself. Then again, Mr Dennison makes the sweeping assertion that he "did Dot givetheinformationatiributed to him." All we can Bay in reply to this is that Mr Dennison dW supply the information in question and the words were taken down at his own dictation. '■ If he has exaggerated the value of the , process, and the results have not come up to expectations, he should accept the responsibility, as Mr Dennison alone has supplied any of the information published in this paper regarding the process.—Ed. —Btab.l :
