Attacked by a Bull.

[BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT

Auckland, September 6. Mr Thorpe, late licensee of the Harp of Erin Hotel, had a narrow escape of being gored to death by a bull on Saturday night at Ellerslie. He went into a paddock with the object of removing the animal, when the bull charged him. He was knocked down and gored under the chin and about the face and head, while three ribs were also broken.

His wife, hearing the commotion, ran out and found her husband lying on the ground and the bull attacking him. She promptly secured a clothes prop and with great courage drove the animal away. Had it not been for her plucky conduct, the chances are that the unfortunate man would have been gored to death.
