The Premier at Fielding.

THE RESOLUTIONS PASSED.

AN EXPLANATION.

[Pbess Association.] FiELDiNG^This day.

Mr Mac Arthur, M.H.E., addressed a meeting in the Assembly rooms here last night, in reply to the Premier's speech. The following resolution was carried unanimously:—"That this meetiDg regrets that the vote of thanks and confidence passed, as an act of courtesy to the Premier at his meeting at Fielding has been misrepresented by the Govern ment as a proof of the approval of this neighborhood with the policy of the Government. Having now heard the other side of the question from the member for the district, and while passing a vote of thanks and confidence in Mr Mac Arthur, this meeting is of opinion that the policy of the present Government is in no manner to the best interests of the permanent settlers, of the coiony."

Mr Scobie MacKeDzie is to be invited to speak in Fielding.
