TO-DAY'S ELECTIONS.
[Pbess Association.]
Auckland, This day,
According to I present appearances O'Korke and Mitcbelson are both safe, as well as Mr Lawry. Monk and Ham lin are both very doubtful, while it is almost certain Thompson will head the poll for the City, with Jtiees second, and Porter or Shera for third place.
Wellington", This day. Business is almost at a standstill in the City today, and everything is (jiving way to the elections. Each of the eight candidates is working hard, and each committee professes to be certain of success. A close finish is expected between at least four of the candidates.
Oamabu, This day. The polling is proceeding brinkly, and both sides are confident of .victory, but public opinion strongly favors Duncan.
Dukedin. This day. There is the greatest activity in the city to-day, and in the neighborhood of the polling booths there is a large crowd, while there is much excitement. The polls in Dunedin and suburbs will be the heaviest ever known The labor leaders are very confident of carrying the city seats and the suburbs, but there is a great difference of opinion outside that organisation as to who will be returned, though most people assign Allen a prominent plaoe. Block votes and plumping will greatly influence the other seats, one of which is expected to be gained by Pinkerton, though he has lost uround lately.
Dawson's supporters claim the suburbs, bat local opinion favors Boss' return.
Cairncross will defeat Biirron by over 100, and Thomson should have a substautial majority over Smith for Bruce, while Valentine should just about winTuapeka.
It is even betting about Port Chalmers and the Peninsula, but people on the flat declare that Earneshaw must win. A great many town voters are going to Bavenshome and the flat in order to assist Mills and Lantech respectively. The weather is boisterous and showery.
