Yesterday. A letter has been received from Melbourne, stating, with regard to Binnie's gas machine, that the railway authorities had a machine erected at the railway station for a practical trial with a view to the adoption of the new process on the Victorian railway, and that the directors of the Melbourne Metropolitan Gas Company, after inspecting the machine, are arranging to test the apparatus with the intention of treating for the right to use the process.
