Friday.

Between 5 and 6 o'clock this morning a destructive fire broke out in Georgestreet when the following places were totally destroyed :—Tondut's Rainbow Hotel; Cott's photographic establishment ; DeaEer'3:drapery, Brown, plumber, and one or two other small shops. Tondut is insured in the South British for £900. The Standard office is interested to the extent of £300, and the .New Zealand to a large amount.

An exhibition of the* electric light took place on the Caledonian ground last night, and a diversified programme of sports, including foot race, pony racing, &c., was gone through. . About 8,000 persons were present. '
